All of us at KCIC are delighted to introduce you to our newest colleague. Diana Kantner joined our team last month as Vice President. We have been getting to know Diana these past weeks as she settles into our Chicago office, and we wanted to give you a chance to meet her as well.
Tell us about your background. What drew you to this kind of work?
I have lived in the Chicago area for nearly all my life. My first professional job out of college was at Arthur Andersen, where I worked in the company’s Financial Advisory Services practice, the consulting side of the company. After Andersen, I went to work at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as the Director of Financial Management. In that role, I oversaw the $400 million annual operating budget of the medical school. I moved back into consulting when I joined The Claro Group and most recently was Managing Director there. What drew me into consulting was the array of diverse and interesting projects. Consulting has you constantly learning, whether it’s a new industry, new topic, or new way of approaching a problem. I enjoy helping clients across various industries and forging a trusted partnership with them. I also enjoy being able to analyze large amounts of data and synthesizing the information in a way that can be understandable and valuable to the client. I enjoy growing professionally and helping my teams do the same on projects.
What are you looking forward to as you serve KCIC’s clients?
I’m looking forward to working with a bright group of people, learning from talented teams, and looking at new ways I can help our clients.
My areas of expertise will be providing data analytics, damage calculations, future liability forecasting, predictive modeling, and claims management services to companies facing complex liability claims or litigation disputes. I will also be providing expertise in the development and preparation of first-party business interruption and property damage claims.
What is one of the biggest challenges that companies face right now?
I think one of the current challenges in the industry is how they are facing large litigations for product liability cases, in which juries are awarding multi-million dollar or even billion-dollar verdicts. This has caused companies to look at their insurance programs more intensely with a view to coverage for defense costs and verdicts stemming from the litigations.
As someone new to the company yourself, what has struck you so far about working at KCIC?
I am very impressed by the family culture at KCIC and the high values the company holds. KCIC has a strong sense of integrity and a deep level of commitment by everyone that I have met.
Being based in KCIC’s Chicago office, what opportunities does that provide?
Chicago is an amazing city with a strong pool of talent. Being in the Chicago office will provide me with an opportunity to tap into that pool of talent to help grow and develop KCIC’s presence in the Midwest.
