Despite how long and large the asbestos litigation business has loomed, the total population of asbestos personal injury claims has been an enigma. That’s because there is no national registry for such claims.
However, KCIC processes thousands of asbestos complaints each year. As a result, we have something unique at our fingertips: a database that comprises, by our estimate, at least 90 percent of the total asbestos filings in the U.S. That’s certainly enough to provide a snapshot of the state of the industry today.
With 2015 behind us, we crunched our data for last year and compared those figures to 2014. The findings, along with our analysis, can all be found in our newly released report “Asbestos Litigation: 2015 Year in Review”, which you can download here.
While we pull this kind of analysis together on a regular basis for our clients, aggregating it across the industry is something we have only recently begun to do. If we had known just how illuminating industry participants would find it, we would have started sooner! We hope you find the report interesting.
