I’m very excited and proud that KCIC has been named a finalist for Insurance Consulting Team of the Year by Business Insurance Magazine for the second year in a row! Business Insurance’s US Insurance Awards were created to recognize the achievements of teams in the commercial insurance and risk management industries. 

Last year, our nomination focused on our BEV tool, which gives asbestos defendants the data they need in a useable format to keep bankrupt asbestos defendants in the evidentiary record. We were pleased to be considered a finalist alongside four peer organizations doing great work in the industry. 

This year, our nomination spotlights recent technological innovations we’ve designed and developed to help policyholders better analyze, store, and utilize their insurance policies. KCIC has long been at the forefront of using database technology to turn insurance contracts into data. Over the past two years, we have invested significant time and resources to create a paperless process to efficiently capture key clauses and organize them into meaningful categories. Our online database, Ligado, with a dynamic coverage chart tool, has become the central vehicle for delivering the results of our analysis to clients and their coverage counsel, primarily in the context of coverage litigation. We’ve also launched analytics-style reports using Microsoft Power BI to help clients slice and dice their coverage across several factors. Stacks of file folders full of policies and quality control reports are now a distant memory!
