In a story detailing the start of an asbestos liability trial in St. Clair County, Ill., the Madison-St. Clair Record referenced KCIC's findings published in its 2017 Asbestos Litigation Report showing that St. Clair Country has seen an uptick in asbestos claims. It is speculated that the increase is a result of St. Clair's proximity to Madison County, Ill., the nation's longtime asbestos litigation "hot spot."
"While St. Clair County’s asbestos filings are a far cry from the filing numbers in hotspot jurisdictions like Madison County, the St. Clair County filings increased 200 percent last year, according to analysis of 2017 filings conducted by Washington-based consulting group KCIC."
