Highlands Final Claim Documentation Date Reminder – 8/31/2022

This is a final reminder of the August 31, 2022 deadline to submit supporting documentation for liquidated claims (those that were set and paid as of May 31, 2022). Please reach out to KCIC as soon as possible if you require assistance submitting claims to ensure that the deadline is met.

Highlands’ policyholders were first required to file proof of claim forms in 2007 and updated claim information with supporting documentation in 2019. Policyholders who did not timely file proofs of claims are not permitted to do so now. The permanent receivership of Highlands ended with the issuance of the liquidation order on October 29, 2022. Home Claim Amendment Deadline Update

On August 12^th, the Supreme Court of New Hampshire approved the liquidator’s request for a final claims amendment deadline. The deadline will be 150 days after entry of a final order, which is expected sometime soon. KCIC will advise when the official date is set.

The original proof of claim filing deadline was June 13, 2004. To date, Home has made interim distributions totaling 30% of agreed claims to Class II (policyholder) creditors. The purpose of the final claims amendment deadline is to facilitate the resolution of all open Class II claims in order to calculate and pay a final distribution. New proof of claim submissions must include information on why the late filing of such claims should be excused. For more information, please see the liquidation website.
