Happy New Year! All of us at KCIC hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

More than ever before, KCIC was grateful to participate in our annual partnership with Prince George’s Child Resource Center, an organization that has been serving families in need for over 25 years. Each holiday season, we “adopt” four families in the D.C. Metro Area to and organize both a fundraiser and a gift drive to provide some holiday cheer.

Prince George’s provides KCIC with a description of each family member, including age and desired gifts such as books, clothing, and educational toys. From there, we get to work! KCIC shares the family members’ descriptions and their holiday wish lists to the entire company. Employees are then able to shop for each family member and purchase gifts according to their interests. It is always an exciting time to be in the office and see the families’ piles of toys and clothing grow day after day. In addition to the toy drive, KCIC holds a fundraiser for grocery store gift cards. This year, thanks to the generosity of our team, we were able to raise over $1,500 to help the families with their day-to-day expenses.

Once all of the gifts are brought to the office in mid-December, the KCIC team comes together for our annual “wrapping party.” Although this year’s party looked a little different due to COVID-19, a small but mighty crew came together to successfully wrap all the gifts for the families.

This event is always a company favorite, where we can reflect on the year’s successes and reinforce our company values, while giving back to the greater D.C. community. The following day, the gifts are picked up and distributed to the various families just in time for the holidays!
